Lydenburg is a scenic spot situated on the Panorama Route of Mpumalanga. It is known for the impressive mountain ranges and endless expanses of greenery, as well as for the waterfalls that tumble in a seeming juxtaposition of tranquillity and drama.

Did you know? The Lydenburg Falls are only 16 kilometres outside of the town of Lydenburg. It is less than two hours from Nelspruit, as well as from the world-acclaimed Kruger National Park.

The Lydenburg Falls remains one of the province’s most beautiful and impressive waterfalls. In addition, it is also one of the highest in the country. Situated on the Dorps River, this popular attraction consists of three individual falls. Two tumble, side by side, into a large basin with pools adjacent to it, while the third tumbles from that basin. The total height of the falls is an amazing 244 metres.

The waterfalls make for breath-taking sights and photo backdrops, while the pools are awesome for swimming – the ideal refresher after a walk. There is a small entrance fee to see the falls, but it does not compare to the reward of the ultimate in natural power.
