Just outside of Port Elizabeth, the Eastern Cape’s bustling metropolitan area, yet far away enough for the presence of others to go unnoticed, in pristine greens out amongst the tall blue gum’s and fiery aloes lies the Wedgewood Country Club, a true golf and lifestyle estate.
Wedgewood has recently undertaken to upgrade the facilities and indeed the entire course, which was well received by the golfing community and considered an incredibly rewarding ground to play on. The vision of the new course is an 18 hole championship course, lined with tall trees and undulating fairways that provides a “country” ambiance to the golfers yet to grace it.
An astounding seven new lakes are going to be introduced by Golf Data, the team responsible for the project, along with a new clubhouse, automated irrigation system and intelligent drainage. Greens will be of Creeping Bent and fairways will again be of Cynoden grass. We wait with baited breath to see the outcome of what we are sure will become of South Africa’s finest golfing estates.
