Woodhill Country Club Golf Course
Pretoria, Gauteng: Woodhill Country Club and residential estate is situated in
the eastern suburbs of Pretoria and the layout consists of two very different halves - the
front nine rising and circling the "hill", the back nine flatter and more
thickly wooded.
As the home of the Professional Golfers Association, it was here at Woodhill Golf Course
that the 2001 PGA Championship was played and the course proved that it could present the
pros with a tough yet fair test. As this course matures, it will be no surprise to see it
earn a listing in the top-30 rankings.
Built on what was previously a dairy farm, Woodhill still retains a country feel, even
though it is situated in South Africa's capital city, Pretoria, conveniently close to the
N1 highway. The 18-hole Woodhill championship golf course, surrounded by 707 prestigious
residential properties, is the annual home of the Telkom PGA Championship, one of the
majors on the Sunshine Tour.
Woodhil Country Club Golf Course was designed by Peter Matkovich and is maintained at a
level to challenge all aspects of a golfer's game, yet at the same time provide a
distinctively different and enjoyable golfing experience.
