About The Pan African Market
Tour the African continent in the heart of the Mother City on three goods laden floors under one roof of a grand old Victorian building on famed Long Street in the city centre. African countries make indigenous art, craft and artefact offerings to visitors of The Pan African Market.
Independent multi-ethnic retailers represent wares of at least fourteen African countries including Cameroon, Kenya, Ethiopia, Mozambique. Mali, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa. Corridor upon corridor of colour and culture create ethnic cascades of unique curios. Loose yourself amongst faces of African masks and mask yourself as an African local with a custom made traditional outfit stitched with a whirr by an African seamstress and her in-house sewing machine.
Choose from leathers and beads; drums and feathers. Fertility figurines and traditional healers promise to cure all conditions and if that doesn't work than an African cup of coffee served on the roof balcony to the rhythm of African beats might. Remember to barter before flashing your credit cards.
