Tuna fishing, like other game fishing, combines the adrenalin of reeling in a massive catch with the breath-taking beauty of the open ocean and the clear blue skies. The sports fishing charters offer visitors and local fishermen the fantastic opportunity of heading to Cape Point to try their hand at catching the fish that live in the deeper waters of the open ocean. This is a professional level charter, and fishermen can look forward to catching various tuna species as well as other kinds of game fish. Those that would prefer fly fishing or spear fishing are welcome to indulge themselves in these methods too.

On the inshore trips, Serendipity uses trolling lures, jigs, plugs and spoons to target tuna, yellowtail, snoek, and katonkel (also known as bonito).

Pelagic charters and sunset cruises are also on offer for anglers and visitors that want to experience the coast just off Cape Town in an entirely new way.

The skipper at Serendipity, Justin Berry, has years of commercial tuna fishing experience and has won a number of awards. These include being at four national competitions and winning his 2018 Protea Colours at the World Championships.

The fishing charters are based at Harbour Island in Gordon’s Bay, which is a small town that is less than an hour from Cape Town, Table Mountain, and the V&A Waterfront. In addition to its beaches, Gordon’s Bay is also well equipped with restaurants, shops, and accommodation.
