About Hard Pressed Cafe

In the heart of Cape Town where the vibe never ceases and the streets are flanked by shops, restaurants, boutiques, vendors and speciality stores; a real treat is in store for those with a penchant for good coffee and music to match. The Hard Pressed Café is situated in Bree Street, which remains a popular hub for locals and tourists alike.

This café is well-known for its excellent coffee; not least of all the Hard Pressed blend, which has a subtle, but undeniable aftertaste of chocolate indulgence. The experienced baristas create something special in every cup, and caffeine-junkies are well rewarded when looking for a cuppa that is tasty and different. Other innovative drinks include naartjie rooibos, hot cross bun chai tea, ginger beer and ice-cream, and delicious coconut water.

The menu is just as exciting; boasting a mix of fresh bagels, delicious sandwiches and fun salads (biltong, brie and fig being one of the best-loved salads on Breë Street). Those with a sweet tooth should definitely try the poppy seed sponge cake coated in white chocolate, or the triple chocolate brownies. There are even meal, coffee and dessert options for those following the banting diet or Tim Noakes’ eating plan. Everything is homemade with fabulous ingredients to ensure awesome flavours and top quality.

Vinyl records are available and collectors will, no doubt, love spending some time perusing the albums and adding to their at-home repertoire. The Hard Pressed Café crew are constantly on the lookout for vinyls that will be appreciated by those who love classic sounds and old-school (sometimes retro) style.

In addition to the coffees, refreshments and food, there is fast Wi-Fi, making the Hard Pressed Café a prime spot for a quick cup of brew, a meeting with clients, or freelancers needing to find inspiration in the heart of the Mother City.
