During the hot African summer months, there is a cool breeze coming off the ocean, refreshing diners and providing the ideal retreat from the heat. In the chilly winters of the Western Cape, the indoor log fire crackles alluringly, warming visitors to their core as they indulge in delicious food and wines. The views showcase the wetlands, which are part of the conserved Nuwejaars Wetlands Special Management Area, and sprawling fields of endemic fynbos.

The Black Oystercatcher Restaurant is situated on a scenic wine farm close to Elim, a small village that is characterised by whitewashed cottages and fruit trees. It is about 2.5 hours’ drive from Cape Town and its international airport, winelands and many tourist attractions.
