Overnight? Stay at accommodation in Mtunzini, in KwaZulu Natal

Along the South African coastline, in the beautifully sunny province of KwaZulu-Natal, is the little town of Mtunzini. This town may be small and relatively quiet, but it is popular amongst those looking for an intimate beach retreat, coupled with the serenity of the untouched expanses of the landscapes of South African.

Mtunzini is also where the Clay Oven can be found. This restaurant combines a relaxed atmosphere and breath-taking views with delicious dishes and friendly service. The deck and outdoor patio areas invite diners to enjoy scrumptious flavours while taking in the stunning views of the ocean, ships sailing past, smaller boats on the lagoon, and the variety of bird species that soar past. Indeed, this is a near-perfect spot in which to unwind and take in the holiday vibe.

The Clay Oven offers breakfasts, lunches, dinners, sundowners and teas. Its menu is comprehensive and varied, ensuring that all palates are catered for and delighted by the flavours, textures and ingredients found within.

Breakfasts include traditional favourites, as well as fruit salad, creamed mushroom, French toast and omelettes. The mains include a number of salads, as well as chicken dishes, pastas, burgers, steaks, spare ribs, lamb shanks, curries, and a hearty vegetable platter. Seafood is always popular amongst tourists, and is easily available, thanks to the restaurant’s close proximity to the sea. Diners with a penchant for seafood will no doubt enjoy sampling the prawns, calamari, hake, and combo platter on offer. The Clay oven is also famous for its excellent pizzas, which are solely responsible for luring some regulars back again and again. The dessert menu is short and simple, but includes all of the sweet treats necessary to tantalise and tempt even disciplined diners.

Weekly specials mean that the menu is dynamic, always promising something a little different. Other special features include free Wi-Fi for those wanting to work in gorgeous surrounds or to catch up on holiday emails. This eatery is wheelchair friendly.
