Miramar, Port Elizabeth
Port Elizabeth, also known as the Friendly City, in the Eastern Cape is a fabulous place in which to raise children, popular amongst the newlyweds and those starting a family. Miramar is one of the suburbs in this town that is particularly popular amongst families. Not only is it scenic, in terms of the verdant vegetation and large homes, but also for its close proximity to other popular attractions and amenities.
With a residential population of around 1 000 folk, Miramar is 12 kilometres from the Port Elizabeth airport. It is also within a 10 to 20 minute drive from the various shopping centres and complexes of PE – King's Court, Moffett on Main, Greenacres, Walmer Park and Figtree. These are also home to entertainment facilities, restaurants, cinemas, and more.
In addition, it is situated within about 20 minutes' drive from the beaches of Nelson Mandela Bay. These include the safe swimming beaches that are frequented by locals and tourists alike; namely King's Beach, Hobie Beach, Summerstrand and Humewood. On the other side, there are the wilder beaches of Sardinia Bay and Schoenmakerskop, at which the rock pools are a delight to explore and the dunes wonderful for the energetic. Dogs on leads are allowed on these two beaches, and families frequently enjoy barbecues and picnics on the sands and between the rocks.
Miramar is situated amongst the other similar neighbourhoods of Lovemore Heights, Providentia, and Lovemore Park.
