Ben Kamma, Port Elizabeth
Port Elizabeth, the largest town in Nelson Mandela Bay and the tourist capital of the Eastern Cape, is fortunate to have a variety of suburbs. Some are large and urban, others smaller and more out of the way. Ben Kamma is a small, quiet residential suburb with many freestanding homes and a few townhouse complexes. The streets are wide and peaceful, often with children and pets playing along the pavements.
Ben Kamma is situated on Walker Drive, which is considered to be outside of the main hubs of the city. The Walker Drive Shopping Centre is just minutes away, and is home to shops and franchises that cover décor, groceries, cellular technology, beauty, hardware and fashion. There are a number of fast-food outlets (such as Kentucky Fried Chicken and Steers), and coffee shops in the complex.
The airport is about 25 minutes' drive from Ben Kamma, and the popular swimming beaches are about 30 minutes away. The wilder side of the Port Elizabeth coastline is in the opposite direction, and comprises Schoenmakerskop and Sardinia Bay beaches. These take about 25 minutes to access from this suburb.
