With décor that has been described as “Karoo meets New York”, this café is a buzzing, comfortable spot in which to enjoy friendly service, delicious coffee and awesome food.
Located on the edge of the suburbs, below Sir Lowry’s Pass, The Daily is in the perfect spot for locals as well as for visitors arriving in the Mother City and Somerset West. Enjoy a steaming cup of coffee or tea, lattés, cappuccinos, milkshakes and lip-smacking meals at leisure or en route.
Breakfasts include bacon and eggs, omelettes, muesli and yoghurt, and warm oats with roasted nuts. But, there are also other options for those wanting a little something extra. Try a breakfast burger, eggs Benedict, bruschetta with smoked salmon and egg, a breakfast wrap, French toast, flapjacks, or the light-as-air croissants with a range of toppings.
Lunch is made with fresh ingredients and innovative twists. Fishcakes, the quiche or pie of the day, pulled pork burger, chicken and bacon salad with avo, savoury pancakes, and the generous chicken schnitzel are just some of The Daily’s favourites. Low-carb options include a Cajun chicken breast, and the bell peppers stuffed with mince and mushrooms and served with a mixed green salad.
A sweet tooth is well satisfied here with a range of freshly baked cakes (on display) and a choice of decadent sweet pancakes with all sorts of exciting fillings. There are also fluffy scones, best enjoyed with jam and cream, and delicious muffins.
Somerset West is about 25 minutes’ drive from the international airport, and about 40 minutes from the city centre of Cape Town.
