Kobus van der Merwe, the owner of Oep ve Eet, and previous editor of Eat Out online, brings his passion for food to this unassuming rustic restaurant in the small fishing village of Paternoster. His knowledge of food, his flair and talent has resulted in a menu of unique flavour and food combinations, attracting foodies from all over.

A daily menu is chalked onto a board, revealing dishes inspired by the West Coast, with fresh local ingredients taking centre stage. Traditional dishes - chicken pie, ravioli and tagliatelle - receive a delicious twist with ingredients such as bokkoms, quince, and dune spinach. Homemade springbok sausage rests on a bed of butterbean mash and brushetta is served with bokkom tapenade.

Located inside the well-known Oep vir Koep store, with only 5 tables, Oep ve Eet is about as intimate as it gets. An experience of such inventive cooking doesn’t even come with a hefty price tag, further adding to its charm and appeal.
