Beatnik Bazaar is a little shop in the popular seaside village, Kalk Bay, with a philosophy of supporting local handmade objects and individually sourced retro and vintage furniture.
Inspired by the Beatnik generations ideology of non-conformist lifestyles and creative expression, the shop represents this in the way that it offers a choice of unique and individual pieces, for those who express themselves through their surroundings and see the beauty in the unconventional. From tea towels to tea cups, mixing bowls to aprons, down cushions, retro coffee tables and vintage dinner services, Beatnik Bazaar highlights the "bazaar style" of decorating ones home with an eclectic mix of old and new, engaging in the poetry of living on the other side of the conventional.
Beatnik Bazaar proudly stocks the following select local South African designers ranges;
• Skinny laMinx Designs
• Skermunkil Jewellery
• Liesel Trautman Ceramics
• Tessa of 'The Pot Spot' Ceramics
• Phillipa Green Accessories
• Home Bakes Pottery
• My China Ceramics
• Wren Handbags
• Frank Android Jewellery
• Flowermill Gift Cards.
Beatnik Bazaar is situated at the cottage at The Railway on Main Road, Kalk Bay. The Railway House is a Capetonian institution for finding wonderful and unique furniture and quirky pieces, and we are proud to be occupying this space on the same grounds, which borders on the 'magical garden' so loved by visitors to Kalk Bay, just beyond the Brass Bell.
