Fly-fishing crystal clear Cape streams with Inkwazi Flyfishing: Inkwazi is the Zulu word for Fish Eagle and arose from the frequent presence of the birds over some fly fishing river expeditions.
All fly fishing is done on foot, dry fishing or wet wading into the river. The clear Cape water and the dependency of the fish on terrestrial insects means that dry fishing can be had throughout the day September to May. Most of the time visible feeding fish allow for sight fishing although you might lose a friendly bet to a guide who can detect a fish with their specialised vision invisible to you. The mountain streams of the Western Cape are all within comfortable driving distance from Cape Town.
The streams are full of self sustaining populations of trout which as a result of careful catch and release programs are entirely wild. A full door to door service means anglers are collected for a full day tour and returned relaxed and with fond memories. The guided waters are divided into beats so that an experience of tranquility and privacy in which to fish is guaranteed. Water regulations prevent more than two anglers fishing the same beat and all guides provide very personal attention to anglers, typically one angler to one guide (maximum two anglers to one guide). Beats are arranged depending on your energetic desires and fitness levels, so fishing spots can be arranged that require just stepping out of the car or involving arrange of hiking.
The full service fly-fishing experience provides all equipment and tackle, refreshments. A quality lunch, permits, licenses and transport. Of course if you do have your own equipment and wading shoes you are welcome to bring them along otherwise clothes and sunscreen are the only personal items required. It is recommended that you bring a change of clothes for the drive home.
