Why make your next Tuna sandwich from a can when the Cape has some of the richest Tuna waters in the world today?
The local Yellowfin Tuna often weighing in at about 80Kg's and the Longfin in the region of 20Kg's. Tuna season usually runs from September to June and is a full day charter, 30 miles out to sea. Western Cape saltwater fishing will bring you fin to face with the Cape Yellowtail which is usually found around Cape Point giving you an opportunity to take in the landmark of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meeting point from the water. Cape Snoek is the only fish available in the winter months peaking in quantity form May to September. Found at depths of 15-20 meters they weigh in at 5-7Kg's they are suitable for novices. Blue Sharks, Dorado and Mako Sharks are also species found along the Peninsula. All tackle is provided on the charter for conventional style fishing, deep sea fishing, in-shore light tackle or offshore fly-fishing providing the keen fly fisherman with a challenge on the fly.
Hooked on Africa Fishing Charters has a fleet of vessels personally skippered by qualified guides, friendly crew and fitted with the latest navigational equipment and tackle. Food and drinks are provided and a fishing day often incorporates some Cray fishing (Western Cape Lobster) so a decadent Crayfish lunch on board is a treat May through November. A day on the open water with the smell of the salt air, the sway of the swell and the sunshine on your face also provides the opportunity to spot numerous species of Albatross, Seals, Dolphins and Whale. Most charters include an excursion to Seal Island off Hout Bay. The sport is suitable for all levels of fishermen, male and female so why have your next board meeting or team building event in the boardroom?
Western Cape fishing will have you throwing line and learning about the ecosystems in False Bay, Cape Point and around Robben Island as well as further offshore for the warm currents. All fish are formidable fighting fish so your victory will be well deserved. Be warned though not everyone on your Christmas list will be as passionate about the homemade 'Happy Holiday' Cards made with a photo of you posing with 'the fish' on the front!
