Handspring Puppet Company has revolutionised adult puppet theatre capturing dramatic performances of magic through stringed movement. Established in 1981 this cutting edge puppetry company has created captivating characters for adult entertainment.

Puppeteers and puppet makers individually hand craft three dimensional animal, mythical and human forms for each themed performance set in an African context. Puppet shapes are moulded, sculpted and carved out of a variety of material in an array of sizes including life-size. Many successful collaborations with world renowned international artists, including William Kentridge, have resulted in memorable productions that have taken these proudly South African puppets abroad on highly acclaimed global tours. International Awards include the London Critics Theatre Award for the mesmerising production of Warhorse.
