About Triggerfish Brewing

Although Triggerfish Brewing is located in the Western Cape town of Somerset West (just outside Cape Town), these beers can be enjoyed in many other parts of South Africa too. More than just great products, Triggerfish invites locals and visitors to visit the taproom from Monday to Saturday (11h00 to 21h00) or to do a brewery tour to get an idea of the passion and experience behind the cold, crisp beers.

Local ingredients are used as much as possible, with the aim of creating unique flavours that are undeniably South African. In keeping with the air of innovation that permeates every part of Triggerfish, they continue to work on beer and wine hybrids, and use barrel ageing techniques to achieve some fantastic results.

Their staple beers include

Sweetlips (Blonde Ale)
A light blonde made with two types of malt. It is dry and refreshing with distinct biscuit malt flavours and a gentle fruity finish.

Bonito (Bombshell Buchu Blonde)
This herb-infused beer is refreshing, with an unmistakable hint of mint and orange. This is light, refreshing, and perfect for hot summer nights.

Ocean Potion (American Pale Ale)
The flagship beer, this is a classic APA with tropical fruit and citrus undertones. There is a surprising bitter finish.

Roman Red (American Amber Ale)
This medium-bodied ale has pine and citrus notes that are balanced with caramel, raisins and a smoky, bitter finish.

Hammerhead (Indian Pale Ale)
The citrus and pine are countered by the typical IPA bitterness of the hops. The malts impart a toffee, caramel nuance too.

In addition to these, there are some beers that feature from time to time, but are not always on the menu. These include a Weiss, sweet stout, Russian imperial stout, and tap mix, to mention a few.

The menu at Triggerfish includes delicious snacks and heartier meals that are best enjoyed with an ice-cold beer. Some of the favourites are the smoked beef brisket, pork shoulder sandwich, buttermilk crispy chicken, and the Trigger burger (with brie, bacon and jam).

Triggerfish Brewing is a must for visitors to Cape Town and Somerset West with a hankering for something different and moreish.
