About Dellrust Wine Estate

The Stellenbosch Helderberg region is well-known as a superb wine region. This is precisely where you can find the Dellrust estates. Lower-Rustenberg farm has been the creation ground of Dellrust wines since the very first time the Bredell family began farming there in 1863. Whilst Johan Bredell was the first farmer within the Helderberg region, he chose to farm wheat and cattle instead of wine.

The first vineyards were only planted at the start of the 1900s, followed by a wine cellar in 1916. This cellar then produced wine and port to sell in built to KWV and Castle Wine & Brandy Company. It was only years later in 1985 when the Bredell family bottled their first wine. In 1998, the brothers of the family parted ways formed two business and Albert start to create the brand of Dellrust. The 98 hectare farm has the varietals of Shiraz, Pinotage, Merlot, Ruby Cabernet and Sauvignon Blanc planted on it. Only a special, small part of these plantings are used for the Dellrust label. Visit this estate and enjoy their fine boutique wines.
