Studio G is an established platform for emerging artists and those who have been in the creative industry for years. It promises visitors a unique array of pieces that can be observed, analysed, appreciated and, ultimately, purchased for their own space. Art has the ability to inspire and even motivate change, and appreciating this power is the focus of Studio G.

Managed by the sculptor and entrepreneur, Gerhard van Niekerk, the flagship Studio G gallery at The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay has proven very successful. So successful, in fact, that there is now a studio and gallery in Harbour House, Hermanus. This is a small coastal town that sees scores of international visitors, thanks to the whales that visit it every year, making it the whale-watching capital of South Africa. More than this, though, Hermanus is home to a number of creative individuals that see and create beauty in places where others haven’t. This makes it the ideal base for Studio G, which is being run with assistance from Aidon Westcott, who is a well-known and respected art curator and artist.

Gerhard’s bespoke coffee tables remain one of the main attractions of this gallery. Their fluid lines and soft edges are juxtaposed by modern materials and clean finishes. They are special, unassuming, but bold enough to make a statement.

Studio G is run with the tourism a hospitality group, Village n Life. This group is responsible for the ownership and management of a number of accommodation providers, including some luxury hotels.

Hermanus is about an hour from Cape Town. It has spectacular swimming beaches and is home to the Fernkloof Nature Reserve.
