About Lourensford Wine Estate

Make your way past the rose bushes on the edge of the vineyards and there you’ll find fruit orchards, forest, a wine cellar, restaurant, fly fishing, bee hives, cheesery and a coffee roastery. It’s a perfect place for the family to visit. The rose bushes are a great way to tell if diseases may threaten the vines.

Visit the River Garden restaurant and deli where fresh bread and pastries are sold. Sit on the terrace overlooking the kid’s playground, herb garden and fountains. Most of the food is sourced right here on the farm. Have a look at Frans Groenewald’s paintings on the wall of the deli. If you’re feeling more active, take a picnic basket with your and hike up the trail through the fynbos until the lapa.

To all the coffee lovers, the roaster is a must see. Beans from around the world are sold here including countries such as Ethiopia, Nicaragua, Peru and even Papua New Guinea. You may get o meet the winemakers, Chris Joubert and Hannes Nel, who wield the tastiest wines this side of the Cape Helderberg.

You can pair your wine tastings with cheese platters, nougat or cookies. The Winemaker’s selection includes Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Mourvedre, Viognier and Merlot. Plus there’s the Lourensford honey liqueur which demands a taste.
