About Lourensford Market

Your Cape Winelands accommodation is sure to be special for so many reasons; not least of all the spectacular views and the award-winning wines offered by many of the wine estates. But, there are also so many little treats and unexpected discoveries to be made in this area; and these make it extra-special.

The Lourensford Market bursts into life every Friday from 17h00 to 21h00 and on Sundays from 10h00 to 15h00 (open from September to May). It is hosted by the spectacular Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West, where the undercover market area hosts around 70 permanent stalls and a number of pop-up shops. Enjoying shelter means that the market is open even when the summer rains drizzle down.

The modern, rustic look adds charm to the gorgeous variety of things to eat, buy, see and do at the Lourensford Market. There are artisanal products, homemade treats, arts, crafts, organic goods, and unique homemade indulgences for visitors to sample and enjoy. The food is out of this world, so come hungry!

The market is open to friendly dogs on leashes, and there is enough parking. There are ATMs and, on hot days, misters to cool shoppers down. The lawns, trees, gardens and interactive fountain are the perfect setting for the market. Families can relax in the shade, while energetic little ones run to their heart’s content. Live music is on offer too, for an irresistible vibe. On the first Friday of every month, a Cape Town DJ will perform while visitors dance under the stars. On Sundays, local musicians keep the tunes going while visitors stroll amongst the stalls and enjoy delicious food.

Next door is the MOTOR Studio, where vintage and classic cars are on display. Here, ABRU Craft Beer can also be found and savoured.

The Lourensford Market and Somerset West are around 40 minutes from Cape Town and its international airport.
