About the Franschhoek Open Gardens

“My garden is my most beautiful masterpiece.” ~ Claude Monet

There’s something so special and grounding about being in the blossoms and bouquet of somebody’s hard planting and pruning work. The Franschhoek Open Gardens Festival in November, showcases the exquisite work of avid gardeners in this beautiful little part of the Cape Winelands.

A number of different gardens are showcased for this festival - from sprawling farm gardens to little gardens in the village that have an enchanting charm. In 2023, there will be 11 gorgeous gardens on display. Five of these are new, five haven’t featured in two or more years, and one is from the 2022 festival. This gives visitors an opportunity to see the full array of colourful gardens while also getting to experience the picturesque prettiness of Franschhoek.

Make a weekend of it! Book your accommodation in Franschhoek and then experience the charm of the village by exploring wine estates, the restaurants for which the village is famous for and the quaint shops and eateries along the way. Enjoy some of the other sights and activities that the village has to offer; which includes amazing restaurants, wine estates, antique stores, chocolatiers, bakeries, and more.

Buy your tickets for the festival online through Web Tickets or from the office in Main Street, Franschhoek. Maps and brochures are provided so that you get to enjoy the full experience.

No pets are allowed to accompany you on your tour of the gardens. Franschhoek is only about an hour from Cape Town.
