Claremont, Pretoria

The central western suburb of Claremont lies in a vertical rectangle with Bremer and Van Der Hoff Streets as its fulcrum. Neighbour to Pretoria Gardens, Daspoort and Booysens, Claremont lies a mere twenty minutes' drive west of the centre of Pretoria.

From Claremont your access to weekend escapes like Hartbeespoort Dam, Brits and the Magaliesberg is excellent, and the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site is virtually on your doorstep, the Magalies Freeway linked directly to Claremont by the R55.

Must-see tourist attractions in the centre of Pretoria include the Kruger House, a few blocks from Church Square, where Paul Kruger lived until 1901, the State Theatre and the Transvaal Museum – home to the hominid fossil known as Mrs Ples, and the glass South African Reserve Bank building, a privately owned bank that acts as banker to the government and issues the country's banknotes and coins. It is also the highest building in Tshwane (Pretoria), its glass and black Rusternburg granite facade a beacon on the skyline.
