What began as an in house country cooking experience around a double sided log fire has evolved into an internationally renowned venue, which has been discussed as far afield as Machu Picchu in Peru and the top of Table Mountain in our own beloved Cape Town!

The cuisine is real South African food with a hint of the Cape Malay influences of the past. 22 couverts on the newly added Fynbos Terrace extended the capacity to 52, meaning the surrounding Guest House occupants can also come to partake in dishes such as good old Lamb Bredie, the ubiquitous Bobotie (in this instance made with healthy lean Ostrich meat!). Other favourites served at Rafters are slow cooked Karoo lamb chops and Venison pie to name a few; all accompanied by village grown organic, freshly picked, salads and vegetables.

Desserts are the all time favourite Cape brandy tart, homemade ice cream and yummy chocolate brownies and ye, the brownies are as good as those found in the USA! Follow that with local cheeses from the famous Fynboshoek Farm and preserved green figs from Robertson. The wine list is comprehensive, and often praised, featuring the less stylish, but so excellent, hand selected wines from the Robertson, Bonnievale and Montagu region.
