Walk to the Rust-en-Vrede Waterfall

Rust-en-Vrede taken from the Afrikaans expression for 'rest and peace' is true to its translation in setting. Indigenous plants and animal life flanks a trail of bridges and paths that lead you up the Swartberg Mountains to a waterfall hidden in the heights. Water and gravity tango cliff-side down the stone face with sheer force.

This scenic sanctuary supplies Oudtshoorn with its water supply and hikers with a sparkling spring pool. An undergrowth of ferns and an overgrowth of wild flowers cultivates an innergrowth of relaxation amongst rocky edges and a rapid river. Braai (barbecue) facilities and picnic places lie in the soft shade of the sheltering entrance tree.
