For a fantastic wreck dive, get down to Port Elizabeth Harbour and out to the Paris Maru Wreck.
After crashing into Roman Rock in 1934, she sunk to the depths creating an artificial reef now home to a large variety of marine life. She crashed in line with the shipping path from the harbor so unfortunately she was blown up to flatten her a bit, so ships could pass easily.
Gas Light and Silver Nudibrachs glide through the water, while Feather and Basket Sea Stars creep slowly along the wreck.
Corals, Sea Fans and Anemones make up this stunning dive site with fish like Steentjies, Red Romans, Koesters and Shad grace the waters. The dive is approximately 14 to 19 meters deep.
Take caution when diving and ensure visibility and conditions are good before heading out as sharp pieces of the wreck stick out in places and much of the wreck is covered by sand.
