Meyerspark
Meyerspark, Pretoria

A lovely, quiet eastern suburb of Pretoria, Meyerspark lies in a highly accessible yet beautiful part of the city. Homes are prettily maintained with bordering green lawns and lavish gardens, and the N4 (Witbank highway) is only a couple of kilometres down the road. Meyerspark lies almost midway between the suburbs of Lynnwood and Wapadrand, on the N4 east of the centre of Pretoria. The Watermeyer Park shopping centre is close by and you’re not that far from the Menlyn Hall shopping centre either.

The Botanical Gardens are only a couple of kilometres from Meyerspark, and at least one day can be spent meandering along the pretty paved nature trails through the 50 hectares devoted to developed garden where almost exclusively South African plants are cultivated. The gardens have some 200 different bird species and a special collection of medicinal plants, cycads, aloes, tree species and succulents. There are also a few magic spaces under shade trees on green lawns on which you can picnic, or try the tea garden, which has a play area especially for children.

A little further afield from Meyerspark, Sammy Marks Museum and tea garden provides a wonderful outing. Zwartkoppies Hall - the original homestead - just 23 kilometres outside of Pretoria, is a throwback to colonial times. The beautiful house is today a museum set in acres of rolling veld with cultivated rose gardens and tea served under the trees or on a verandah that runs the length of the house.
