Schaefers' Halt

From Johannesburg and Pretoria
Take the N12 or the N4 to Emalaheni (Witbank) / Middelburg. Continue on the N4 towards Nelspruit (Mbombela) through the toll plaza and exit the highway at the turnoff to Belfast (approximately 64 kms from Middelburg). At the third 4-way stop in Belfast turn right at the Dullstroom signboard. Continue through Dullstroom towards Mashishing (Lydenburg) and 27.3 km from Dullstroom there is a Schaefers’ Halt signboard. Turn right onto dirt road, cross the railway line and proceed through the gates for 100 metres, and follow the signage to the office at the Boer Cottage.

From O.R. Tambo International Airport
Take the R21 to Boksburg, and then follow the signs to Emalaheni (Witbank) on the N12. Proceed as above.

From Nelspruit
Take the R37 from Nelspruit over the Longtom Pass following the signs to Mashishing (Lydenburg.) At the 4-way stop with Longtom Nissan on the right and Caltex on the left - turn left into Viljoen Street. Travel along Viljoen for about 3 km at the 3-way stop, turn right to Dullstroom (R540) and travel another 25.3 km. At the Boschhoek signboard travel another 1.4 kms to the Schaefers’ Halt signboard and turn left a dirt road, cross the railway line and proceed through the gates, and follow the signage to the office at the Boer Cottage.
