About Durbanville Hills Wine Estate

The 18th century saw the Durbanville Hill’s first farms harvest grapes. The Tygerberg hills attracted many a traveller as a resting place and area to begin a new life. Durbanville Hills first launched wines in 2011 from the 1999 vintage and have been long-time suppliers to Distell. Their advanced cellar can handle a capacity of 8000 tons of harvested grapes using a cooling system, presses, destemmer and barrel fermentation built underground.

Durbanville Hills Wine offers a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Their Rhinofields range is named after the Renosterveld (named after the protected indigenous plants that grow in the area. They also produce a Single Vineyard Range which encompasses Durbanville Hills’ limited release wine. Cellar Master Martin Moore's wines are full-bodied and even though he recommends that his wines mature for up to five years to develop fully, he produces them so they are ready to drink immediately as research shows that 84% of wines are drunk within a day of being bought.

A percentage of each bottle of wine’s selling price is donated to a worker’s trust which aims to improve the quality of life of employees on surrounding farms. Olive farmers are able to lease the olive orchards and net income goes to the Trust.
