Tractors are more than just farming machinery. They’re rough, tough, powerful, and part of a farming heritage that goes back generations. Randell’s Ranch Tractor Museum honours the trusty “work horse”, together with an impressive collection of trucks, cars and motorbikes. But, this isn’t just a favourite amongst motor heads and vintage enthusiasts. Randell’s Ranch is a fantastic attraction for the whole family, and is situated in the little Mpumalanga town of Lothair, near Chrissiesmeer.

The oldest tractor on display at Randell’s Ranch is a cute, classic 1924 Farmall Model Regular. Other exciting finds include the McCormick-Deering B-450 and the Allis Chalmers E20-35. The cars range from an elegant 1929 Chevrolet, a 1964 Ford F100, and a soulful Ford Mustang M1 that will definitely get the pulse racing. A Harley Davidson from 1939, a Vespa from 1963, and a 1965 Triumph are part of the extensive motorcycle display, which is nothing short of magnificent. There is even a 1948 Beechcraft S35 Bonanza aeroplane.

Randell’s Ranch Tractor Museum was the brainchild of Jan Randell, who was raised on a farm in the area by his parents. His father had a passion for machines and how they worked. In fact, he was the first farmer in the area to have a tractor, attracting other farmers from all around to come and watch how this innovative machine worked. It was this passion that fuelled Jan to pursue his idea of collecting and exhibiting the awesome variety that can now be enjoyed by tourists from South Africa and the rest of the world. Jan’s sons are actively involved in the farm, and will continue the legacy for the next generations.

Lothair and its tractor museum are about three hours from Pretoria, Johannesburg and the OR Tambo International Airport.
