Bothasig, Northern Suburbs
In the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, surrounded by family homes and business blocks, is the residential hub of Bothasig, also known as The Sig. This area is multi-faceted in terms of the homes and business found within its borders and it has earned its name as a real community-focussed area, complete with sports fields and soccer clubs.
Bothasig was named after the former Prime Minister and State President of South Africa, Mr PW Botha. However, it was originally located on the Bosmansdam farm, when the countryside was littered with hills, mountains and endemic fynbos.
It is a fantastic place from which to explore Cape Town and the Cape Winelands. In fact, it is less than 20 kilometres from the City Bowl and all of her attractions, and between 40 minutes and an hour from the various estates of the Winelands, where world-class wines can be tasted and bought directly from the wine farms.
Views of Table Mountain in the distance are postcard-perfect, while the convenience of the Canal Walk Shopping Centre is just minutes away. A short drive on the highway is all it takes to get to Table Mountain and the cable car, Lion’s Head, Devil’s Peak and Signal Hill. The V & A Waterfront and Two Oceans Aquarium are also only about 20 minutes’ drive from Bothasig. This residential centre is ideally located to access many of the best attractions in the Western Cape.
Bothasig is neighbour to Edgemead and Milnerton. This means that it is also close to the world-renowned beaches of Bloubergstrand, placed firmly on the international map by pro kitesurfing legends.
The Cape Town International Airport is easily accessible from Bothasig and is just less than 20 kilometres away.
