About Margaret Roberts Herbal Centre

Margaret Roberts in Broederstroom is a brand that has long been associated with herbs, tinctures, herbal, food and health products in South Africa. The Margaret Roberts Herbal Centre encompasses everything that Margaret herself is passionate about, from the impressive herb gardens, the cosmetic, medicinal, fragrance and kitchen gardens - through to the apothecary, nursery, tea garden, labyrinth and chapel.

Did you know? The Herb Nursery at the Margaret Roberts Herbal Centre offers an incredible selection of herbs, trialled and stabilized in the trial gardens, and all information about the plants is there for the visitors to peruse. The nursery offers an amazing and rare fruit trees, vines and medicinal plants.

The great garden is at the centre of it all, encompassing the herbal parterre, kitchen garden, medicinal garden and more. A highlight is the collection of 30 varieties of basil, origanum, lavendar and rosemary. Many of the plants throughout the different gardens can be purchased in the nursery, as well as trees, citronella grass and Australian tea-tree, and visitors are invited to start their own herbal and kitchen gardens with plants from the nursery.

Remember to enquire with the centre about the workshops offered, on Tuesdays and Fridays throughout the year, which cover making your own cosmetics, medicinal herbs, planting a herb garden and more. The price includes a delicious tea.

A shop on the premises in Hartbeespoort Dam supplies visitors with all their favourite Margaret Roberts goodies, including cosmetics, bath products, herbs, spices and condiments. Enjoy a relaxing lunch at The Country Kitchen, which serves gourmet coffees, light lunches and tea - and their famous geranium-scented scones.

The chapel on the property is a must-see, as is the de-stressing sand garden with its replica of the labyrinth found at the Chartres Cathedral in France. Bring the whole family to delight in all the intriguing aspects of this unusual foray into the magical properties of herbs and plants.
