About Wayfarer Inn
Wayfarer Inn is an elegant, brick and stone Dullstroom style guest house set in a large, well maintained garden. It is centrally and conveniently situated within walking distance of the town centre and all tourist attractions.
Step from the covered entrance portico, through the double wooden doors into the reception area which soars to double volume. The lounge / dining area is airy and features wooden framed, double glass doors and a cosy log fireplace for curling up with Gluwein on those chilly Dullstroom evenings.
Wayfarer Inn offers spacious deluxe bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, providing the ultimate in creature comforts. Tea and coffee trays with spring water are provided and all rooms are equipped with hairdryers. In winter, all beds are fitted with electric blankets and heaters.
In keeping with the title Wayfarer Inn (or Traveller Inn) the deluxe accommodation is named after illustrious cities of the world, these being New York and Paris, which are complete and operational with Cape Town, London and Rome, still a work in progress.
The New York room boasts open rafters and scenic views of the surrounding countryside while the Paris Room, opens onto the spacious, tiled veranda and pretty garden. A bar fridge is available in certain rooms. Secure parking is provided.
Attractions and Activities
Set out on a sedate walk round the village planted with stately oak trees, iceberg roses and lavender, past the beautiful old stone church down to the municipal dams stocked with leaping trout for the avid fly fishermen.
A more strenuous walk up the Suikerboschop Mountain into the nature reserve will reveal a profusion of wild flowers and a host of nature’s many secrets as well as an old boer fort. The village is host to a number of rallies held annually, like the MBT cycle race and Harley Davidson motor bike rally.
Quad biking is popular as well as off road mountain biking. The adventure centre has a full program of events as well as team building and sporting activities, archery, abseiling and rock climbing among them. Dunkeld Equestrian Centre offers horse riding and dressage, trout fishing and hiking while nearby, the Bird of Prey Centre offers flying demonstrations daily. Clay pidgeon shooting is available on a nearby farm.
For the connoisseur the Whisky Bar, local pubs and Anvil Ale beer brewery boast a wide variety of brands to please even the most discerning palette. Many fine dining restaurants and hotels cater for those with epicurean tastes.
