Set on the Constantia mountain slopes, it is perfectly positioned as an ideal location for producing quality wine as well as picturesque views over False Bay and the Constantia valley. Simon van der Stel first chose this region for his farm in 1685 and it first yielded a harvest and a production of wine four years later. Klein means ‘small’, but it’s rich history and international reputation claims otherwise. It has been named one of the Top 25 Vineyards in the world by Wine and Spirits Magazine in 2002.
Once you've tasted their famous Vin de Constance, you'll realise why this family owned and run estate found high acclaim amongst Europe's rich and powerful during the 18th century. Jane Austen was one of the literary figures who prized this Vin de Constance and had one of her heroines claim it had the ability to mend a ‘disappointed heart’. If their spectacular views don't capture your undivided attention, their award-winning wines will.
Once at the estate, don’t forget to have a look at Sheik Abdurachman Matebe Shah’s kramat (saint’s tomb) at the entrance. Enjoy the simplicity of this estate with its breaktaking views, excellent tasting rooms and great informative displays.
