Welgevonden Reserve is a declared Heritage Site of 33000 hectares and border the Marakele National Park. All situated in the breathtaking Waterberg Biosphere in Limpopo, South Africa. A true bushveld environment is home to some of Africa’s most sought after game species including one of the largest collections of white (square-lip) rhino on private land. Other species occurring are elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, eland, sable and many other varieties of antelope. There may even be the opportunity of catching a glimpse of the aardvark, brown hyena or rarely seen honey badger. ACCOMMODATIONFive exclusive suites, carefully positioned between rocky outcrops on a north facing slope and breath-taking views of the Waterberg mountains, compliment this location. FACILITIESThe main building has a central African theme and consists of a lounge/bar and dining area, all leading out onto seligna decks emphasising the natural environment. DIRECTIONS: Take the Polokwane (used to be Pietersburg) N1 Freeway North from Pretoria. After about 130 km you will find the Kranskop Tollgate. Keep left at the tollgate and turn off the freeway towards Nylstroom. After 11 km you continue through Nylstroom towards Vaalwater for 60 km. Continue straight through Vaalwater towards Thabazimbi. 25 km out of Vaalwater you will find the main gate of Welgevonden Game Reserve on your left but continue past the main gate for a further 22 km to the Schoongelegen turnoff. Turn left on the Schoongelegen dirt road. Here is also a green sign indicating the Welgevonden West Gate and Manual Gate. Continue for 17 km on the Schoongelegen dirt road past the Welgevonden Manual gate to the Welgevonden West Gate that will be on your left side. Please confirm your estimated time of arrival at the West Gate. You will be picked up at the gate with an open gameviewer. Travelling time is approximately 2 hours 30 minutes to the Welgevonden West Gate. In the park you are on a scenic game drive for anything between 20 minutes to hours depending on the game viewing.
