DESCRIPTION:
Loerie Lodge is situated opposite natural bushveld in a quiet northern suburb where small Duiker, Porcupine and flocks of Guinea Foul visit the front lawns and the Grey Loerie hedge hop through the trees. It is not unknown for Warthog and Baboon from the nearby national monument, to patrol the bush across the road.
Phalaborwa is the commercial and tourist centre of the Limpopo Lowveld serviced by three flights a day and a luxury bus once a day from Johannesburg. The harmony of man and animals living together and sharing the land adjacent to the Kruger Park is equal to living in the park but with all the conveniences of a modern town.
ACCOMMODATION
Loerie Lodge consists of 10 Garden Units each with its own individual décor, either fitted with twin singles, double, queen or king size beds, giving you the choice of several combinations all with separate entrances into the gardens. Each unit is air-conditioned, en-suite with TV, M-Net and DSTV (satellite). They are equipped with fridges, tea and coffee making facilities, telephones, ceiling fans and dressing table / work tops.
SMOKING
We have a no smoking policy in the rooms. However there are tables and chairs outside each room with ashtrays and for those who like a cigarette with their breakfast, we permit this on our pool verandah.
FACILITIES
Seating 20 comfortably our English-style breakfast is served daily from 06:00 to 08:00. Packed meals are available on request and dinner can be served by prior arrangement. (Please book before 11:00 am)
Always available in the dining room, included in your tariff, there is percolated coffee, a selection of different teas, several brands of instant coffee as well as a variety of drinking chocolate to suit most people’s tastes.
Our cocktail bar is stocked with limited popular spirits, most local beers and a small selection of SA wines together with international carbonated cool drinks. The bar works on an ‘honesty’ basis with room slips.
Next to the main tropical palm pool and dining room is our formal guest Veranda with tables and chairs for casual relaxation and of course one of three BBQ’s on the property. Here we have information boards, tourism brochures and free Broad Band Internet.
TOURS AND ADVENTURES
There is a multitude of different wild life adventures, sight seeing car drives along the Panorama Route, and some formidable walking safaris or game viewing by Microflite or river cruises many of which are not listed in the normal touring guides. Unique are the Elephant rides and morning walking safaris. |

DIRECTIONS:
From Pretoria
From Pretoria on the N1 Freeway to Polokwane bypass to Tzaneen & Phalaborwa on the R71: At the west entrance to Phalaborwa town by the Elephant tusks, at the 4 way stop turn left into Spekboom this is a double road. Continue driving northwards down this road missing the first and second roads on the right. Continue as the road becomes a single lane and just after a koptjie (little granite outcrop) on the right, take the first road right called Visarend and the first left which is Bateleur. We are on the right side, identified by signs and the name on the wall. Please drive straight in and park. The booking reception area is along the pathway. Our car park is at the rear of the double property in Troupand Crescent.
From Lydenburg
From Lydenburg / Nelspruit / Graskop / Hoedspruit on the R530: Turn right at the first 4 way stop which is a short cut to Phalaborwa / Kruger National Park. At the south entrance to town by the Elephant tusks turn left and left again after a sharp bend. You will now be at the 4 way in the above directions. Drive across this four way into Spekboom and follow those above directions.
From the airport exit road: Turn left into President Steyn to the traffic lights. Turn right up Hendrick van Eck through the next traffic lights to the four ways stop then turn right. Generally follow our signs on the lamp poles.
From the Kruger National Park Gate: Drive straight through the first & second set of traffic lights to the last four way stop and turn right into Spekboom and follow the above directions.
