The Midas George Old Car Show will be held this year at the PW Botha School in York Street, George and is always one of the year’s highlights.
There’s something about old cars. They have the type of charm and personality that can’t be seen in many modern day vehicles.
Some of the highlights at previous shows included a 1939 Chevrolet Coupe street rod owned by Jimmy Share who bought the car when it wasn’t in its greatest condition. It features bright paintwork, large wheels and a 305 ci Chevrolet V8 engine mated with a BMW 528 transmission.
Previous shows included a 1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith. Mike reports that "the Silver Wraith was the first post war Rolls-Royce model and was made in Crewe, England, from 1946 to 1959. This is a long-wheelbase model and is one of only 639 of its kind. Under the bonnet lies a 4,877 cm3 straight-six engine. The current owner is John Haresnape."
