It is totally impossible to believe that 2009 is already starting to wind down, but it is incredible to think that summer is just around the corner with all the sun, sand and sizzle we have become accustomed to in the Garden Route.

The 2009 Grand Finale of Miss Diaz will be held on the evening of 26 December and will be presented by none other than the Garden Route’s own Mrs South Africa 2009, Joani Johnson. A beauty queen among beauty queens, Joani’s flawless beauty, style, work ethic and ability to put together events like these has seen her catapult to the top with grace and this year’s Miss Diaz Grand Finale is set to be one of the biggest spectaculars ever held at the Diaz Strand Hotel.

PAPARAZZI PARADISE
For those of you much more comfortable behind the camera, there is also a photographic competition whereby you can share your holiday moments with us and win great prizes. A sure-fire winning day for celebrity and hot body picture taking will be on Monday, 28 December when the SPAR Hot Summer of Touch hits Diaz Strand. The Rob Louw Springbok Invitational team will be in the running for hotly contested glory, trying to defend their 2008 title – the perfect perch for some action shots...

As one of the all-time favourite attractions at the festival, Die Burger will once again host an evening with their summer festival artists. This year, the talents of Elizma Theron and Die Broers will grace the stage of the Pero Dias Theatre. Gerrie Pretorius and DJ Ossewa will team up to present the show “7 sondes in die lang gras”, while other top artists including Nedine Blom will also be showcased.

Feeling tired yet? Well, get ready to don your dancing shoes for a “dawn of 2010 New Year’s ball”.
