Port Nolloth: The village of Port Nolloth was established in the 1850's as a copper port. Ore was brought to Port Nolloth by rail for shipment overseas until well into the 20th century, but the harbour's narrow, shallow entrance was unsatisfactory, and Cape Town's harbour proved to be a more practical alternative.

Port Nolloth has become the centre of small-scale diamond recovery. The village is the only holiday resort on the Diamond Coast. Holiday-makers stroll down the pier at sunrise to watch diamond dredging boats and fishing twawlers pulling out of harbour. Good line fishing, crayfishing, the occasional antics of seals and long stretches of beach are among the attractions.
