Kyalami, Midrand

Situated north of Johannesburg in South Africa, Kyalami is a popular suburb boasting many excellent features. Kyalami is a very popular grand prix racing area. In fact, it boasts the Kyalami Kart Circuit, home of SportStar motorsport and Piazza Motorsport. This circuit is the Premier Corporate Karting facility in Gauteng, catering for any size function.

Kyalami is also a motor racing circuit. The circuit has been used for Grand Prix and Formula One races and has hosted the South African Grand Prix a number of times. The circuit has also played host to five rounds of the prestigious World Superbike series from 1998 - 2002. The original circuit was a majestic, sweeping circuit on which many memorable races were staged. Regrettably, when the circuit was rebuilt in the early 1990s as part of a housing development, all the grand character of the original circuit was lost. The world famous Crowthorne bend, Barbeque and Jukskei sweep corners were heavily modified as part of this redevelopment, with the result that the circuit became a narrow, twisty ribbon rather than one of the fastest circuits on the calendar.

The gorgeous South African Lipizzaners are situated in the small holdings of Kyalami. These magnificent Lipizzaner horses, truly boast strength, beauty, presence, Roman ancestry and military discipline. They radiate energy and stamina and have gorgeous pure white coats. Every Sunday they perform a classical dressage show to classical music in which they skip, trot on the spot, side step, high step, and jump off the ground and kick with their back legs at the same time. This act in the past was meant to decapitate enemies in war situations. To see these gorgeous 6 horses going through the routine together is truly breathtaking and not to be missed.

In recent years, the area surrounding the circuit has developed into a beautiful residential and commercial suburb of Johannesburg. There are a few fantastic coffee shops and gastronomic restaurants.
