About Sundowner Safari Camp

The Sundowner Safari Camp is entirely self-sufficient and off grid utilizing the wind and sun provided for power and water. Guests have found it to be “rustic, yet clean and crisp” and there is no better way to experience the bush.

Self Catering Accommodation

There is one self catering bush camp on the property sleeping four guests. It is a classic, thatch roofed camp featuring two rooms each with two single beds. There is a separate kitchen and dining area, braai (BBQ) pit; high-stand for game and sunset viewing and outdoor bathroom facilities featuring a donkey shower (fire powered hot water) and separate toilet room.

The kitchen has a gas-powered oven, stove and refrigerator and comes stocked with plates, cups, cutlery and cooking pans.

A feeding and watering trough has been placed near the camp to draw the animals close for optimal viewing, and occasionally a couple of friendly fruit bats take refuge under the thatch behind the bar, and a family of mongoose near the bathrooms.

Arrangements for the following can be made - picnics on the farm, grocery delivery, and a special “romance “package as well. Please enquire about encounters with big cats, elephant rides, big five game drives, in room massages and much more.

Please Note:
It should be noted that higher clearance vehicles are recommended, as the road to our property can be quite sandy in spots. If your vehicle is not 4wd, it is not recommended that you drive around the property on your own.

The Farm

Your hosts are from the United States, they enjoyed their honeymoon in early 2016 and fell in love with the people, the stars, the wildlife and the immense beauty of South Africa. It felt like a homecoming. Once back in the USA, they decided to pursue their dream and found this piece of heaven in the Waterberg.

The farm consists of 256 hectares of diverse bushveld terrain; from sandy woodlands to marshy grassland areas, a little bit of everything, which makes for an impressive collection of flora and fauna. In addition to free roaming warthog, jackal, mongoose, antbears (aardvark), rabbits, caracal, leopard, hyena, baboon, snakes, lizards, vervet monkeys, bats, and a notable collection of bird species, you are sure to find giraffe, impala, kudu, nyala, waterbuck and zebra grazing on our property.

The sunrises are brilliant and every sunset at Sundower Safari Camp is uniquely spectacular and perfect.
