The Vineyard Oval Market is a fantastic place in which to celebrate the warm summery evenings of Cape Town. Having moved from its previous locale, this vibey market is now at the beautiful Kenilworth Racecourse, and is held on Wednesday evenings, as the weather permits. This venue means that there is plenty of room for parking and stalls, as well as pretty trees and excellent views of the mountain to create the ideal backdrop. Little ones can run around, while families peruse the stalls or sit on the grass.
The Vineyard Oval Market enjoys its prime setting, right in the heart of Cape Town’s suburbia. Food stalls, food trucks, wine tastings, arts, crafts, and more, are complemented by the live music, and the entertainment for both the young and the young-at-heart. Watching the sun go down over the Mother City, while indulging in some of the finest craft foods and local wines, is an opportunity that cannot be missed. And doing all of this mid-week is a fantastic way to speed the week along and get to the fun of the weekend.
The market is closed from May to September, when evenings are often wet and chilly. The Kenilworth Racecourse is in Rosmead Avenue, and is conveniently central. The City Bowl is less than 20 minutes away, as is the international airport.
