About Constantia Nek Farm
Gordon and Anne Kling own and produce Kling wines on Constantia Nek Farm. Constantia is the oldest wine-making region in the Southern Hemisphere and originated in 1685. Some of the finest wines are produced in this region and regularly received international and local acclaim. In the 18th century, Napoleon Bonaparte and royalty tried and enjoyed wines from this area.
The area is well-known for is sweet whites but also dry whites and reds. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay,Semillon and Viognier plus Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Pinotage and Cabernet Franc are ideal for this region and Methode Cap Classique is grown within the valley too.
Join a wine tasting tour of the region’s nine-farm wine route and be sure to make an appointment to visit the scenic Constantia Nek Farm with Merlo 2009 with a herbal edge which matures well, Shiraz 2009 displaying red fruit aromas and flavours with a great structure which is grown on the West facing slope of Table Mountain, Sauvignon Blanc 2010 which enjoys breezes from the ocean and has a light fruitiness and green bite on the finish as well as the Viognier 2010 which matures for three months in oak barrels and becomes smoother with age.
