The Mandela House is a museum exhibiting the research, presentation, preservation, legacy aadn of course the heritage of the Mandela family.
Learn all about President Mandela’s journey in life, the struggles, the success and more as he fought for human rights and mutual respect amongst South Africa’s people.
This house (now museum) is where president Mandela and his family lived from 1946 to about 1990 and is now a national monument. This historic home was built in 1945 and this is where Mandela lived before going to prison. On his release he returned to No. 8115 for a very brief period before moving to Houghton.
The house is now in the care of the Soweto Heritage Trust and is a major attraction amongst tourists and locals alike.
