About Rosarium at Venning Park

The Venning Rose Park was previously known as Eastwood Square. The name Venning Park honoured John Harold Venning, former Municipal Director of Parks who retired in 1940.

Today the park is known as Rose Park mainly due to the Rosarium wich is filled with more than 3 000 rose bushes.

The Rosarium was established by the Northern Transvall Rose Society, the roses donated by various rose nurseries. Here, one can view the rose named “City of Pretorria” amongst 30 different rose species. The Rose Park covers an area of 30620m².
