About the Hermanus Wine & Food Fair

No visit to South Africa is complete without staying overnight in Hermanus - the whale-watching capital of the country and a charming seaside town. And, if you happen to be there at the time of the annual Hermanus Food and Wine Festival, then you’ll get the chance to sample some of what makes this destination deliciously irresistible.

This vibey event is characterised by its showcasing of hundreds of local wines, giving visitors the opportunity to taste and buy a collection of red, white, rosé, sparkling and dessert creations from local vineyards and those a little further afield. It is a real celebration of the Winelands. But, more than this, there will also be craft spirits on show – including gin, brandy and beer. With all of these fine flavours in the mix, it’s only right that they are paired with some excellent food. Food trucks are aplenty and offer a moreish variety of snacks, meals and sweets for the whole family. There are also usually MCC and oyster or cake pairings for those after a taste-bud adventure.

The entertainment is always a highlight. Live music, concerts, and contemporary-cum-classical performances make for an excellent ambience of fun and culture. The live folk band sets a fab tone for a traditional Sunday lunch with the family.

The little ones love the Hermanus Wine and Food Festival because there is so much to see and do. The petting zoo is always a highlight. There are also rides, games, and a sensory play park. Bonus: families get one free ticket.

Tickets to the Hermanus Wine and Food Festival include a crystal wine glass, access to the wine tasting hall, a wine tasting experience, entrance to all of the festival arenas, pop-up areas and music performances. Hermanus is less than two hours from the CBD of Cape Town.

To avoid disappointment it is advisable to book your accommodation well in advance for this event.
