About the Karkloof Classic MTB
The Sappi Karkloof MTB Festival, takes place in the beautiful Karkloof Valley. This is one of the biggest events of its kind in South Africa and attracts some of the best riders from throughout the country.
The action-packed weekend kicks off with an exciting 20km night race on the Friday evening, an Enduro-style event for the hard-core MTB fans on the Saturday and something for every member of the family on the Sunday with the qualifying Rainbow Challenge event - the Sappi Karkloof 60km Classic marathon. There are also the very popular 40km, 20km and 10km trails - all put together by a full-time trail building manager and team, dedicated to bringing you the best in Mountain biking.
Sunday will offer a packed day of Mountain Biking for the whole family with distances ranging from 10km to the 85km.
There will be plenty of fun and activity for everyone, with food stalls, entertainment and spoils for Mom! Out-of-towners can stay at one of the nearby establishments and make a weekend of it, taking in some of the sights and thrills of the Midlands Meander.
Besides offering some of the best mountain bike trails in the country, the Karkloof also has a lot more to offer in scenic beauty with the nearby Karkloof Falls and the Karkloof Crane Centre just two great examples.
