My work keeps me from going home on regular basis. So, after a very long time , I went home! That is back to Genaal for Easter! What an awesome time I had with my family. We could spend all the time together on The Stoep, overlooking the main road. Just sitting there taking in the views and having to greet everyone passing, for me, was more than I could ask for. I missed this place. When I got back to town I felt revitalised and fully charged. Ready to take on anything the city want to throw at me! Yes I am a native of Genadendal and bloody proud of it!!

I was on leave and went HOME!! The only place I want to go to if I have free time. This is where I charge my batteries; where I oil my engine and the place where I clean my lungs. MY PLACE; HOME!! GENADENDAL or as we call it GENAAL! Valley of Grace.

With lots to see, Genadendal sells itself short. With better marketing, and an open restaurant, they would attract a lot more visitors. Very peaceful

Great first visit to South Africa but never got out of Western Province in the 4 week trip. Many wonderful places and wonderful people of all races. Had a book about the Overberg and one afternoon thought i would check out Genadendal having read bits about the place. Was completely blown over by the history comfort and spirituality of it. Was made to feel so welcome by everybody and although not agreeing to the way all was set out in the exhibitions visiting the village was a most memorable experience. Made to feel very welcome in Greyton also. Travelling on my own that day too which made it extraspecial. What more to say....SA BRILL little Genadendal has a lot extra to be worth a detour and Ive travelled worldwide too

I was born and bred in this lovely village. If you want to learn something from this beautifully nestled place; talk to the senior citizens of Genadendal. You will be amazed of the stories and anecdotes that they can tell you. People like my mother, Connie or Juffrou Connie, as most know her, aunty Lottie (a legend in her own life-time), uncle Peter (Pikes - a walking encyclopedia), the old rugby players and supporters alike will tell you stories like you won't believe. This is how I spend my time when I go "home"! I sit in their company. This is my place, my people, my history!!
