About Aliwal North Hot Springs
The Eastern Cape is home to so many little gems - quiet towns with their own story and a charm all of their own. Aliwal North is a very quiet town with little going on apart from the two hot mineral springs for which it has become rather popular amongst a small group of folk from all around South Africa.

The Hot Spring Spa Complex has seen a recent renovation of its supertubes, outdoor swimming pools, and the lovely picnic facilities. The springs themselves have very high concentrations of gases and minerals. They are known to have a number of therapeutic and curative effects, and are particularly effective for the treatment of painful arthritis and rheumatism.
They boast a comfortable, inviting temperature of 34 degrees Celsius, making them relaxing retreats from the stresses and strains of everyday life, even on chilly winter days.
Aliwal North is situated on the banks of the Orange River, and the thermal springs surface from the Gariep Dam. These natural features make the whole area rich in faunal and floral diversity.
The small town has an interesting history. It is situated just over 500 kilometres from Port Elizabeth, and 356 kilometres from East London.
