Choosing the Right Wedding DJ

The Wedding DiscjockeyWhat to Consider when Hiring a DJ for your Wedding: When you are planning a wedding, or any other event for that matter, you have to ensure that the DJ is going to perform accordingly and keep your guests merrily entertained.

There are a few points that need to be taken into consideration when you are looking for the company to hire a DJ from, as it is important that you choose the correct person for the job. The life of the party is the music that is played; the reception of a wedding should be as finely planned as the ceremony.

The DJ should be more than willing to set a date to meet up with you and discuss business. If they make excuses regarding all of your suggestions, give them a pass. Does their material look professional from what you can see? Are they organized and do they provide you with sufficient information regarding their work? This is a few of the questions you should be asking yourself before hiring the DJ.

How long did they take to respond to your request? You should have received a call back or an email within 24 hours of asking for a DJ. If they take longer than that to respond and don’t seem too worried about it, it is a sign that they aren’t really serious about their work. The reason you should give them 24 hours to respond is because they work long hours and mostly at night so they may not have received your request straight away.

What is your honest opinion of the DJ after you have met him/her? Do they come across as someone that can be trusted, is professional and knows what they are doing? If not, trust your gut and move on to the next company. It is terrible when you have to work with someone you don’t like very much. They should be able to show you some of their work and be open about what they can do and how they will do it.

DJ’s play all kinds of different music and this is why you have to ask them specifically about the type you would like them to play at your wedding. Make sure they know enough about it and are willing to play only what you like. Ask them if they have performed at weddings before, if so, how many? Also ask them if they have ever played this certain type of music to an audience before.

When you think you found someone that can do the job for you, ask them for references. You should contact these references and ask about the DJ, how they perform, etc, but you can just ask the DJ for references to see if they are willing to give you such information and if they have any at all.
